Deepening and Desilting Rural Waterbodies
De-silting and deepening of Seven village ponds across Five villages in Bihar to increase water storage capacity and to raise ground water table. In these Five villages, Bhawanipur, Jamsham, Simri, Ladaur and Ounsi, 14185 cubic meters area of pond deepening was undertaken. Due to the increased capacity, the ground water table has risen which in turn has helped increase the water table in the well. The water conservation effort in the surrounding villages has raised the water table by 3- 4 feet in the surrounding villages.
Plantation Drive
The Tree Plantation drive by Mithi Abhyudaya is aimed at combating many environmental issues like deforestation, erosion of soil, global warming and hence enhancing the beauty and balance of the environment. Tall and healthy saplings like Neem, Mahaneem, Alstonia, Terminalia, Lagerstroemia, Bougainvillea, Ceaselpinia and Tecoma etc act as not only a good source of Pure Air but also provide an ecosystem around and adds aesthetic value to the surroundings.
Rain Water Harvesting
Rain Water Harvesting through excavation of Farm Pond is nothing but just to utilize an indigenous knowledge of farmers in a scientific manner to harvest surface run off of the agricultural land. The water management intervention has the potential to evolve as a catalyst to enhance the water use efficiency and thereby, increasing agriculture economy of the water stressed villages. Mithi Abhyudaya has constructed 23 Farm ponds in Siyana Block of Bulandshahr, of size 15 x 15 x 3 meters of capacity to store 445 cum of water, thus, benefitting 23 households.
Awareness Sessions on Environment
The relationship between human beings and the environment is important and it is necessary that they understand and work to keep it strong. And hence our volunteers reach Rural and Urban Schools, carry out presentation and sessions, enlightening High School students about Environmental studies from importance of Biodiversity to conservation of wetlands to Impact of Climate Change. We take these baby steps to sensitize our ‘would be youth’ about Environmental Issues that concerns Humanity.
